no more spring break woo's

Well, spring break is officially over. I had a great time visiting family and friends in Kansas, but of course I had a few holysh*t!-why-am-I-in-Kansas-right-now-when-I-should-be-working-on-my-thesis nightmares. Needless to say, I hit the ground running when I got back. I've been working on my dress for my last thesis fitting which is this Friday. I thought I'd post a few pictures of my work before it's done, so you can see it before I begin the draping process.
This will end up being the front of the dress. I made all of the little rectangles by folding a longer piece of organza in half and creating french seams. Once I did this I gathered the top edge of the fabric to create more volume. Now I just have to sew them to the base piece of fabric.
Here it is laid out next to my "muslin" piece from last semester. I had to remake it because I dyed the fabric after doing all the sewing work and the thread did not dye! I probably should have planned ahead and used red thread instead of white, but oh well.

Well, there you have it. I had planned on posting some photos of our studio, but I'm just too messy right now. Maybe I'll get all organized like my good friend Tessa. I just saw here studio over the weekend in Lawrence and was insta-jealous. (Seriously, bins of fabric, all organized by color!!) Perhaps she'll inspire me to be more like Ms. Stewart... :)
