summertime insanity

My lovely model Stephanie, me, and Ben.

Before I get into the craziness that has been our summer, here are a couple pictures from the Heshima Fashion Challenge from late July. After much deliberation about what I should make that would be very "me" and something someone else might like, I came up with something that I'm really proud of. I almost don't want to part with it, but I would love to sell it too. The proceeds would go to their amazing charity.
close up of the chiffon drapiness, ooooh aaaahhNot a dress, but aside from seeing family, this was the best part about our trip to Wisconsin. I have the best sister-in-law!

Anyhoo, man oh man, our summer has gotten pretty crazy in the last month. There was a visit from my mom, Ben's art show, a trip to Wisconsin for our sweetie niece's third birthday, a fashion show, recovery time, a trip to NYC (more on this later), and now finally, more recovery time. I feel like I'm finally adjusting to my normal life, while trying to figure out what to do with my future. Ugh, seriously, can't someone just fund my life?!

I've been thinking about starting my own business, which is always something I felt I would do but just didn't know when it would happen. Here I am almost 28 and I feel like it's now or never. The only problem is just diving into it. I'm constantly worrying that it won't be good enough or successful or whatever, but deep down I feel like I can do it successfully. It's in my blood! So yeah, that's the plan. I'm obviously in the beginning stages of even thinking about it, so there's not a lot to report on as of now, but of course I will keep you loyal blog readers posted on the matter.

And keep checking back, I'm going to post about our vaycay to New York very soon. I had an iphone malfunction last night and lost lots of photos. Sad face.

shamelss self promotion...

If you're reading this, then you're my favorite blog reader! Haha, yes, I have had a busy (and blog free) summer of working at the flower shop, but this is an event I'm doing for the Maisha Collective, an organization that helps Kenyan women. I was given a scarf made by these women and am supposed to make something out of it! And you should come to the event! It's going to be lots of fun and supports a good cause, so why wouldn't you go? If all else fails, check out their etsy shop here. Hope to see you all there!
